Restaurant Controller - Prestigious Group - 6 Month Maternity Leave Replacement!
We have an opportunity in the hospitality industry for a senior level CGA, CMA student or a recent grad in a Controller role. Our client located in Vancouver operates 2 prestigious restaurants in Downtown and is seeking an Analytical Controller to be the safeguard of all financial matters. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the successful candidate will bring several years restaurant/hospitality accounting experience. This is a contract role that has the potential to become permanent! Offering a great team environment and friendly boss.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile cash/credit accounting by Cashier
- Ensure AR/AP, government remittances are current
- Bi-Weekly payroll and timesheets
- Cashflow monitoring and reporting
- Budget variance analysis
- Ensure Corporate Policy adherence by all staff
- 6 month audit
- Lease control
- Intercompany transactions
- Oversee internal control systems
- Oversee Monthly Food & Beverage and SCGKU inventory counts
- Supervision of 4 junior accounting staff
Qualifications
- Strong Restaurant/Hospitality Accounting experience desired
- Excellent English communication skills
- Accounting Designation or combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Accpac for Windows an asset
- High Integrity
- Strong Leadership abilities.
Salary $60 - $70K per annum depending on experience

Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Finance this is a 6 month contract position for a Controller who would need to provide technical expertise and managerial leadership to an expanding team. Specific areas of focus include: Control & Audit; GAAP Reporting; Tax; Cash Management; Strategic Planning and Budgeting.
Responsibilities
- Providing the Management Team with timely, relevant information that will assist in decisions leading to improved efficiencies and cost reductions.
- Preparing annual and five-year financial budgets.
- Monthly reporting and analysis of financial results.
- Evaluating and improving internal control systems, procedures and business systems.
- Preparing working papers for internal and external auditors.
- Supervising, directing and coordinating the functions of an accounting team.
- Undertaking projects and analysis as directed by the Vice-President of Finance.
Qualifications
- A recognized accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years Controllership experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with analytical and financial management expertise.
Benefits:
$70,000 - $85,000 pro-rata

Reporting directly to the President your time will be divided as follows:
- 45% on financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, performance analysis and overseeing the accounting function.
- 55% on business development, sales and managing client relationships.
